Toyota factories recognized by EPA for improved environmental performance!

Toyota_logo-silver
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized eight Toyota manufacturing sites in North America for achieving a 10 percent reduction in energy intensity through its Energy Star Challenge for Industry program.

Collectively, these eight facilities — including the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc. plant in San Antonio — have reduced energy intensity by nearly 24 percent.

Energy intensity is measured relative to efficiency improvements in process and equipment. The Energy Star Challenge for Industry recognition is only granted to individual industrial sites. To gain recognition, the site’s company must be an Energy Star partner.

“Thanks to the efforts of our team members, Toyota has reduced our total energy use per vehicle over the last five years as we achieved greater energy efficiency across North America,” says Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America Inc. Executive Vice President Steve St. Angelo. “This demonstrates that when good ideas are shared, great things can happen as we continuously identify new opportunities to reduce energy consumption while improving our processes.”

The eight Toyota facilities recognized by the EPA include:

• Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas (San Antonio);

• Bodine Aluminum (Jackson, Tenn., and St. Louis, Mo.);

• Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama (Huntsville);

• Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (Cambridge and Woodstock, Ontario);

• Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana (Princeton);

• Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia (Buffalo).

Toyota Proposal: Man Proposes With Toyota Commercial-Inspired Music Video:

From flash mobs to lip-dubbing, the bar for marriage proposals keeps being raised higher and higher. The latest evidence comes from a man named Danny, who put together a photo montage of moments with his girlfriend Robin and set them to music, telling the story of their relationship.

The video begins with a photo of Danny jumping next to his Toyota by himself, with a caption below the image reading, "It all began with a lonely, lonely boy..." The image is reminiscent 1990's Toyota commercials, in which the company's tagline was "I love what you do for me, Toyota." The story then continues with Danny meeting Robin and the two taking the big step of posing for pictures together.

Danny described the origins of his proposal idea in a post on the website Ring On The Finger:

“I am a traveling salesman, and I would always take pictures of my self jumping by my Toyota (like the old Toyota commercials). I would set up my tripod and camera and take these pictures alone. Then I started dating Robin and we started taking our own “freeze frames” (as we called them) where we would drive to random places and set the camera and timer up and do silly things," he wrote.

Toward the end of the video, the photos stop and viewers see Danny taking Robin to a scenic overlook. She thinks they're about to take another jumping picture, but instead of landing on two feet, Danny gets down on one knee.

With that, the music changes to "She Said Yes" by Mumford & Sons and the captions get funnier; in one, Danny notes that, in addition to saying yes, Robin's is crying and making "mouse-like noises.")

Thank you for this stunning review, TW!

"Awesome experience!!! I researched vehicles online, saw this van that I was interested in, and made a phone call.  When arriving to the dealership, I was greeted by a salesman whom happened to be the one I had been conversing with. Impressive! He escorted me to the vehicle that was in mind and went over all the features the vehicle had.  Took it on a test drive, and started paperwork.  While the paperwork process was in motion we were offered refreshments several times.  The paperwork process too some time, but that is to be expected.  I went from a Expedition to a Sienna, which I loved my expedition and wanted another one, but I must say I am loving my Sienna.  While paperwork and finance was being taken care of the vehicle was taken to get detailed and walking out of the office to see my Sienna, cleaned and smelling good (not that it wasn't before).  I would recommend Toyota Carlsbad to anyone.  There customer service was superb, Omar S. kept us informed of all details, and if he didn't know, he went to find out.  I appreciate that he didn't give us the run around.  Love the warranty!!!!!!!!
Thank you Toyota Carlsbad"

Are you ready for the X Games?

Way to go Henry and Toyota Carlsbad!

"Henry test-drove several vehicles with us, answered all our questions without hesitation or "spin," and was most helpful throughout the process of this purchase. I would send any of my friends or family to him without hesitation whenever they are in the market for a new vehicle. Thanks for a terrific purchase experience!"

Survey: More and More U.S. Car-Buyers Are Choosing ‘American Made’ Over American Brand

Toyota_logo-silver
Concerned about American jobs, U.S. consumers are paying more attention to where the cars they buy are manufactured, according to a survey of car shoppers published by LiveScience.com.  That’s good news for international automakers like Toyota that assemble many of their vehicles in the United States.  Last year, Toyota’s U.S. plants assembled more than 70 percent of the vehicles.

In the survey, 41 percent of car shoppers said it is important that the car they buy is produced by American workers. Only 28 percent said it was important for them to buy from a U.S.-based automaker, even if the vehicle was made in another country.

Significantly, the survey also found that 57 percent of car shoppers consider a car produced in the United States by an international nameplate to be “American-made,” while just 43 percent said the same about a Detroit brand vehicle assembled overseas.

Toyota_logo-silver
Responding to disproportionate rates of African American and Hispanic children dying in motor vehicle accidents, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Toyota today announced they are doubling the reach of their safety education program, Buckle Up for Life, the only national program of its kind.

The new locations for Buckle Up for Life include Houston, Las Vegas, Philadelphia and Orange County, Calif.  They join programs already in place with local hospital partners in Chicago, Cincinnati, Los Angeles and San Antonio.

Toyota’s support for Buckle Up for Life is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to help make local communities safer and stronger.  The company has contributed more than half a billion dollars to nonprofits throughout the United States over the past 20 years.

Buckle Up for Life, or Abróchate a la Vida in Spanish, began in 2004.  It is a national, community-based injury prevention initiative focused on African American and Hispanic communities.  Working with local hospitals and churches, Buckle Up for Life addresses the economic, cultural and where appropriate, language barriers to motor vehicle safety, particularly the proper use of child car restraints.

Over the years, the number of children buckled up nearly tripled among the families who participated in one of Buckle Up for Life’s pilot cities.
