5-Star reviews on DealerRater:

"I took my car in to have the breaks checked. Service was wonderful and everyone was very friendly. They were able to complete repairs faster than originally estimated. Our shuttle driver was very personable as well.

Al Vargas has always done an outstanding job representing Toyota Carlsbad.
He has our compete trust and confidence. We are sure anyone we refer him to will be treated with the same professionalism and reliability as Al has displayed to us in the past.

He is a credit to the Toyota Brand and the Dealership!

Thank you for this stunning review, Dmitri!

5-star review on Yelp:

"These guys will probably be angry with me for making them seem like softies, but this was a great experience!

Ernan quoted me a great price -- over $2K off of MSRP -- on a new Toyota Camry Hybrid.LE  This was done through the Drive Your Dream website.  He didn't try to get me to buy something more.  He didn't try to sneak anything by me.  It was a pleasantly hassle-free car deal.

Sure, they offered me the standard extras in the finance office -- security system, interior and exterior protection, etc. -- but any buyer who is being smart about their purchase knows what they do or don't need.  And these guys need to make a living too.  It's a fair part of the process and they weren't heavy-handed.

I am very satisfied and would always return to Toyota Carlsbad if looking for a Toyota or Scion."

Toyota Announces Presenting Sponsorships of Morgan’s Wonderland, New Scorpions Stadium!

Toyota today announced its presenting sponsorship of Morgan’s Wonderland, the world’s first theme park specifically designed with special-needs individuals in mind and built for the enjoyment of everyone, as well as the new San Antonio Scorpions soccer and special-events stadium.
As presenting sponsor of unique and colorful Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio, Toyota will provide major financial support for the 25-acre theme park, which is completely wheelchair-accessible. It features more than 25 elements and attractions including rides, playgrounds and gardens, and in its brief history, it already has attracted guests from all 50 states and more than 30 other countries.

Presenting sponsorship of Scorpions stadium will include naming the facility as Toyota Field. As a member of the North American Soccer League (NASL), which is one step removed from Major League Soccer, the Scorpions are the only team in professional sports to be organized for the expressed purpose of supporting a non-profit such as Morgan’s Wonderland that seeks to help those with special needs.

“Toyota is pleased to support Morgan’s Wonderland and the San Antonio Scorpions,” said Jack Hollis, Vice President of Marketing at Toyota Motor Sales, Inc.  “We are honored to be able to support the mission of Morgan’s Wonderland. In less than three short years, the park has made a difference in the lives of thousands of people with special needs and their families. And now the Scorpions bring both the excitement of pro soccer and a revenue stream for the park; this is a win-win situation for everybody. Toyota, our regional distributor Gulf States Toyota, and the San Antonio-area Toyota dealers are proud partners in sponsoring Morgan’s Wonderland and the Scorpions.”

At the announcement, the new “Morgan’s Wonderland presented by Toyota” signage was unveiled by 18-year-old Morgan Hartman, namesake of the park. This signage will be featured throughout the park and in promotional materials. Three Toyota mobility vehicles will also be displayed at Morgan’s Wonderland.
Toyota Field signage on the 8,000-seat stadium under construction on Thousand Oaks Drive near Morgan’s Wonderland was also unveiled during the announcement. Toyota support for the Scorpions will be visible in multiple communications initiatives for the team.  Capable of expansion in stages to 18,000 seats, the new stadium home of the Scorpions will be completed in time for the 2013 NASL soccer season and also will host community events and concerts.

“As the regional player here in Texas for Toyota, Gulf States Toyota and our six San Antonio dealers will take the lead in the Scorpions-Toyota Field portion of the sponsorship,” said J.C. Fassino, Vice President of Community Relations for The Friedkin Group, parent company of Gulf States Toyota. “We are pleased to be able to support the Scorpions, their games and their mission of funding for Morgan’s Wonderland. It is a unique sports partnership.”

San Antonio philanthropist Gordon Hartman and his wife, Maggie, led the effort to create Morgan’s Wonderland so people of all ages with and without disabilities could come together in a safe, colorful, barrier-free park for fun and understanding.

Morgan’s Wonderland opened in spring 2010 along with the South Texas Area Regional (STAR) Soccer Complex, which like the Scorpions, conveys net profits from the operation of 13 first-class, FIFA-sized playing fields to the theme park. Because anyone with a physical or cognitive special need is admitted free to Morgan’s Wonderland, Hartman sought other revenue streams to help the park meet its financial obligations as well as to expand programs and services for the special-needs community. In April 2012, the San Antonio Scorpions FC began play as the newest team in the NASL and started generating net profits for Morgan’s Wonderland.

“We are deeply grateful to Toyota for the support pledged to Morgan’s Wonderland and the Scorpions,” said Hartman, CEO of The Gordon Hartman Family Foundation. “Toyota is a world-class company with a passion for excellence that extends to helping causes that truly make a difference in people’s lives. We’re just beginning to scratch the surface in helping those with special needs, but Toyota’s involvement, commitment and generosity will definitely help accelerate our efforts.”

Scorpions President Michael Hitchcock said Toyota Field will be “a first-class playing facility where exciting professional soccer will ultimately produce victories for individuals with physical and cognitive challenges. We’re proud to have Toyota’s name on the stadium because it will remind us to continually strive for outstanding performance. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Toyota.”

See how Camry maker angles to land younger buyers!

628x471
A top Toyota executive says a new version of the Camry is selling well and attracting younger buyers.

Senior Vice President Bob Carter says the Camry was reworked for the 2012 model year to be more stylish and fun to drive.

Camry sales are up almost 40 percent through the first seven months of the year.

The old Camry was reliable but boring. It was bought mainly by baby boomers in their mid-50s

But Carter says the new version has pulled in younger buyers, knocking 10 years off the age of the average buyer.

He says Toyota didn't expect the average age to fall that much.

Thank you for this great feedback, Juliette!

5-Star Review on DealerRater:

"In addition to being very helpful and very friendly, we felt that Martin, Adrianna, and Nicole acted with integrity and sincerity. We felt very comfortable working with them and were so happy that our usual monthly car payment would be less than normal! Of course, we opted for additional financing options as they were good choices under the guidance of Nicole. We will be recommending Toyota Carlsbad, and especially Martin and Adrianna, to our friends and will be returning when we are ready for another purchase. By the way, this was the first brand new car we have ever owned :)"

See where Toyota ranks in the new IIHS “Small Overlap” Frontal-Crash Test:

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) today announced a new crash test program called “Small Overlap” that is more severe than the four tests used by the IIHS in its Top Safety Picks program.

In the new test, 25 percent of a car’s front end on the driver’s side strikes a 5-foot-tall rigid barrier at 40 mph.  The test is intended to replicate what happens when the corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole.  The IIHS acknowledges that outside of some automakers’ proving grounds, such a test isn’t conducted anywhere else in the United States or Europe.

In the first application of this new test, only three of 11 midsize luxury vehicles evaluated earned either “good” or “acceptable” ratings.  The Acura TL and Volvo S60 earned good ratings, while the Infiniti G earned an acceptable rating.  The Acura TSX, BMW 3 series, Lincoln MKZ and Volkswagen CC earned marginal ratings, while the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Lexus IS 250/350, Audi A4 and Lexus ES 350 earned poor ratings.  All of these cars are 2012 models.

Regarding the new test, Toyota released the following statement:

Toyota is committed to achieving the highest standards for safety and is proud of its industry leading 17 Toyota, Lexus and Scion models named 2012 “Top Safety Picks” by the IIHS.  With this new test, the institute has raised the bar again and we will respond to this challenge as we design new vehicles.

Toyota's 17 Top Safety Picks for 2012 are: Toyota Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Prius, Prius c, Prius v, Sienna, Tundra (crew cab), Venza and Yaris (4-door hatchback); Scion tc, xB and xD; and Lexus CT 200h, GS and RX.

The IIHS said it plans to assess midsize moderately priced cars, including the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

The IIHS also said it plans to make the Top Safety Pick award criteria more stringent by adding the Small Overlap frontal test to its battery of evaluations.  The existing criteria will continue for the 2013 award cycle, but vehicles that excel in the new test will receive special recognition.

Sgt. Dakota Meyer and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce National Chamber Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes Program to Assist Veterans in Job Searches

Toyota_logo-silver
Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. announced today a partnership with Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation as part of an ongoing initiative to support returning troops and veterans making the transition from military to civilian jobs.   Sgt. Meyer, the first living Marine in three decades to receive the Medal of Honor, will be appearing at various Hiring Our Heroes job fairs around the country to meet with veterans and help them understand the importance of personal branding and how to translate military skills to future employers.

Toyota, Hiring Our Heroes and Sgt. Meyer recognized an existing void in the veteran job market and the need for skill translation tools to bridge the gap between military credentials and civilian job descriptions.    Working in unison to develop personal branding collateral, today will mark the beginning of distribution of those materials at 400 job fairs around the country.

Speaking at a job fair for veterans at Quantico Marine Base, Don Esmond, Senior Advisor, Toyota Motor Sales, Inc. and former Marine, said “The U.S. is currently facing an unemployment rate for post 9-11 veterans of more than 12%, which has the potential to increase as troops return home from overseas. We believe the Personal Branding Initiative is an important step forward in addressing this challenge because it helps veterans translate their military experience into marketable skills. Toyota is honored to be partnering with Sgt. Dakota Meyer and Hiring Our Heroes and we pledge our full support to the program.”

As a former Marine sniper, Sgt. Meyer has first-hand knowledge and experience of the challenges facing military veterans as they try to acclimate and integrate into civilian life after their turn of duty.   Working closely with Toyota and Hiring Our Heroes, he will be offering his unique insights to the tools being developed, as well as speaking about the importance of personal branding.   Sgt. Meyer will be appearing at numerous job fairs around the country to help spread awareness to the U.S. veteran community.

“I was a sniper in the U.S. Marine Corps, so I understand firsthand how hard translating a military skill to a civilian skill can be.  Toyota understands the gap that exists when veterans apply to jobs and face specific challenges in matching future employers job descriptions,” said Sgt. Dakota Meyer. “Our country has been served by the people that make up the best employees – where qualities like loyalty, commitment and hard work are not only required, but honored. Since my return from service, I’ve been very passionate about doing what I can to help veterans. I believe this partnership with Toyota and the Hiring Our Heroes will take those efforts to the next level. I’m excited to be involved and look forward to spreading the word to veterans across the country.”

Toyota’s partnership with Hiring Our Heroes will include prominent displays at job fairs around the country, as well as the ongoing development and promotion of personal branding materials that have been collaboratively developed.   Toyota will also have a seat on the Veterans Employment Advisory Council (VEAC) in the Chairman’s Circle, the highest level that a brand can participate with the U.S. Chamber.

Welcome back from the weekend, fans! Thank you for these fantastic reviews!

"Tom and Henry worked together to minimize time spent. Delivered as promised in all aspects. We love our new car and even more the sales people we worked with. They didn't waist our time, listened to what we wanted and completed sales and delivery in record time.

Thanks Tom and Henry

Toyota of Carlsbad is above average for vehicle sales and trade in prices.  My salesman was John Lagudis who gets high marks for getting me the best vehicle trade in value and lowest price on a new vehicle.  Mandy, Toyota of Carlsbad, Financing, does the final touches on the deal and will surely get you a good deal on interest rates and after market products.  I have purchased four Toyota's from this dealership during the last ten years.

How to get to most for your trade:  First step, go to CARMAX and let them evaluate your trade in vehicle to determine its value based on the markets current wholesale prices.  CARMAX does this service for everyone for FREE.  CARMAX will give you a written quote and buy your vehicle from you within seven days if you want to sell it to them.  There is no obligation to buy a vehicle from CARMAX.  Don't be surprised if your trade in vehicle price is lower than what you expected based on the wholesale market.

I know some of you are saying, "I don't have time for that."  "I'm too busy for that!"  My response is if you don't go to CARMAX first you are going to loose thousands of dollars on your trade.  My experience is that over 98% of the dealers will match CARMAX trade in price.  Call any dealer you want to do business with and ask them if they will match CARMAX.  Most dealers will tell you to bring in the written quote from CARMAX and they will match it.  If their not willing to match it move on to a dealer who will.

Shop around for the best trade in value, interest rates, and new vehicle price.  Toyota of Carlsbad has always beaten their competition for me.  Good luck!"

Thank you for these wonderful reviews! Happy Monday, fans!

"This is the fourth car that my mom and I have leased from Duff Joy at Toyota Carlsbad. He is a magician literally working out deals for our specific situations that we have brought to him over the years in helping us get into a new lease. No one else, there at Toyota Carlsbad or any dealer anywhere, could have given us both exceptional customer service as well as the exceptional deals that we continue to enjoy when working with Duff. Since meeting him three years ago, I have no intention of thinking about, let alone going to anywhere else or to anyone else for my leasing a car experience. He is that good! Where others disappoint, Duff delivers.

I had an excellent experience at Toyota Carlsbad. As a first time car buyer (yes, I have never owed a car in nearly 19 years), I was looking for a specific model, 2011 Ford Fusion Sport. Using Pentagon Federal Credit Union's Buyer Program, it searched and found that Toyota Carlsbad had the exact model, color and features that I was looking for in my first car. Ironic that it was a Toyota dealership with its rival sitting in its lot. Within 24 hours, Ernan Northrup, salesperson, had contacted me through email to setup an appointment. There were other dealers (I searched in Oakland, North Hollywood and Hawthorn) and vehicles that peaked my interested, but I ran into the horror stories I have heard about regarding car dealerships and salespeople. However, my experience with Ernan was opposite of the horror stories. He was honest, professional, not pushy, and a laidback persona (must be s San Diego thing) that allowed me to enjoy my Ford Fusion Sport. After the test drive and discussion, I was sold on the Fusion Sport and purchased it right there on the spot. Also, Ernan went the extra mile in the following areas: (1) helped me get a better car insurance rate; (2) put additional gas in the tank; (3) helped me drop off the rental car I arrived at the dealership with at a nearby Hertz rental car. Ernan provided me with the care and experience that I appreciate when shopping. Even though I purchased a Ford rather than a Toyota, Ernan was indifferent to the purchase and conducted himself with integrity, courtesy, helpful and professionalism that is lacking in today's American society. Also, Michael Hazlehurst, Finance Manager, was excellent in walking me through the paperwork related to my car purchase. He was professional and courtesy in dealing with me and questions. Even though my financing was through my credit union and not in-house, he provided me with the same kind of service. Thanks again for the experience."
