Zzzzzzzzzzzz
The Toyota 4Runner, now in its fifth generation, has been in the Toyota SUV lineup for nearly three decades and continues to be one of the few fully capable SUVs available in its segment.  The 4Runner combines rugged body-on-frame construction with suspension technology that yields ride comfort more often associated with car-based platforms.  4Runner is available in a variety of configurations and in three models: a well-equipped SR5, top-of-the-line Limited, plus a Trail grade for amazing off-road capability.

Returning for its seventh year as presenting sponsor of Stagecoach, California’s premier country music festival, Toyota will kick off the three-day event with vintage circus-themed fan experiences followed by the unveiling of the 2014 4Runner.  The reveal takes place on a unique Toyota stage and will be hosted by SiriusXM™ radio personality, Buzz Brainard with a very special performance by chart-topping country recording artist, Dierks Bentley.

As part of the reveal celebration, Toyota invites fans to enter a sweepstakes from April 22-29 for a chance to win one of six guitars autographed by Dierks Bentley. Toyota World of Wonders will also feature hourly line dancing lessons, temporary tattoo parlor and leather accessory creation station. Off-road racing legend Ivan “Ironman” Stewart will also be on hand to greet fans, sign autographs and provide driving demos throughout the weekend. Stagecoach commemorative silkscreen posters and cooling bandanas will also be available while supplies last. Toyota World of Wonders activities will operate Friday through Sunday from noon until 8:00 p.m. PDT unless otherwise specified.

Toyota Drive Center
For those eager for a little more driving excitement, the Toyota Drive Center will offer a nearly 132,000 square-foot off-road course located in Lot 6C. Participants will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the current generation 4Runner, Tundra, Tacoma, Sequoia and FJ Cruiser models to experience the vehicles’ dynamic handling and Toyota’s commitment to quality, durability and reliability. For each guest who participates, Toyota will make a contribution to one of three partner charities: American Red Cross, AMVETS and National Park Foundation. Participants can also enter for a chance to win a Weber® grill.

The Toyota Drive Center will be open Friday through Sunday from noon to 7:00 p.m. PDT. Guests with a valid driver’s license can register to participate in the Toyota World of Wonders tent.

2013 Toyota Avalon "Only The Name Remains" Interactive Drive Trailer

An old enemy is on your tail...

Take the wheel and outdrive him.

We are thrilled to receive two wonderful reviews regarding our staff and the enjoyable car buying process at Toyota Carlsbad!

Yelp
5-Star Reviews on Yelp:

"Hands down best car dealership in San Diego. I have been a returning customer for past 10 years for one reason-excellence. Excellence in product, customer service, professionalism. Very low key and knowledgeable staff. Don't waste your time going elsewhere, these guys are ROCK STARS!!!"

"Toyota Carlsbad really made a not-so-great situation for me into a A+ buying experience.  Coming from someone with unfavorable credit and a unique car situation on my hands, Mauricio T. (my sales rep) was very accommodating, very easy to talk to, professional and really took an interest in helping me in whatever way he could.  I didn't feel uncomfortable at all with talking finances and trying to work out a deal.  Nicole M. in the Finance Department, I just can't speak highly enough about her as well...she worked her rear off to get me the best deal she could and was so caring and easy to talk to!  I would recommend Toyota Carlsbad to anyone looking to get a car.  I was very impressed with everyone I came in contact with there and they have a lifelong customer now!"

We received a glowing review about our loyal customer's consistently enjoyable experiences with us for last ten years!

You do NOT feel like this is a car dealership except for the knowledgeable staff. If you are looking for a great car like Toyota this is it!! I would not even consider going anywhere else! Don't waste your time going elsewhere."

Prius Plug-In and Avalon Among Kelley Blue Book’s ‘10 Best Green Cars of 2013’

The editors at Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com have compiled a 10 Best Green Cars list to give consumers a roadmap for vehicles with great mpg and off more miles from each gallon of gas or eliminate gasoline altogether.  Among the 10 Best Green Cars for 2013 are the Toyota Prius Plug-in and Avalon Hybrid.

The Prius Plug-in adds up to11 miles of all-electric driving to the combined EPA rating of 50 mpg for the Prius and qualifies it for solo-occupant carpool lane access in some states, KBB.com editors noted.

Regarding the all-new 2013 Avalon Hybrid, the editors said its one of the newest members of the 40 mpg rating club.  If comfort per gallon were a thing, they said, Avalon Hybrid “might be king.”

Toyota to Build Lexus ES 350 at Its Georgetown, Kentucky Plant

Zzzzzzzzzzzz
For the first time, a Lexus vehicle will be produced in the United States. The Lexus ES 350 will be assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) in 2015, Toyota announced today.

The move will generate 750 new jobs. To support the new dedicated assembly line, Toyota will invest $360 million in the Georgetown plant.

About 50,000 Lexus vehicles a year will be produced, bringing the plant’s total annual production capacity to more than 550,000 vehicles. It will be the first time the ES will be assembled outside of Japan.

“Lexus was founded in the United States, so it is only fitting that we are bringing the production of luxury sedans for our U.S. customers back to where the brand was born,” said Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation. “Today’s announcement is a major step in our Global Vision to make ever better cars and trucks, give regions greater autonomy to make the products their customers want and achieve sustainable growth globally.”

“Since its arrival here in 1986, the impact Toyota has had on Kentucky has been immeasurable, and the addition of Lexus production only adds to that enduring legacy,” said Governor Steven Beshear of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. “The establishment of production for the Lexus ES 350 will afford Kentucky a tremendous opportunity to expand and strengthen its vast supplier base, creating even more growth potential in the future. Kentucky is proud of the confidence Toyota continues to demonstrate in our vibrant and skilled workforce as they prepare to make a vehicle model that, like them, has earned a reputation for high quality.”

Production of the ES 350 at the Georgetown plant is the latest step in Toyota’s continuing strategy to assemble vehicles in the markets where its customers live. Over the past 17 months, the company has announced plans to increase production capacity at its plants in Mississippi, Indiana, West Virginia and Canada, reflecting a cumulative investment of approximately $2 billion that has created more than 4,000 new jobs.  Toyota also recently announced executive changes designed to provide regional managers with more local control and a streamlined decision-making structure to help the company deliver superior customer-focused products and services.

“Today’s Lexus ES announcement further strengthens Toyota’s commitment to serving American consumers, growing American production and investing in American team members,” said Jim Lentz, Toyota’s chief executive officer for North America. “We’re extraordinarily proud to have helped create over 365,000 jobs across the country and to produce so many of the industry’s highest quality vehicles right here in the United States. Today, Toyota’s 14 North American plants already produce seven out of every 10 vehicles that we sell in America, and North American-assembled vehicles are now exported to 23 countries around the world.”

Established in January 1986, TMMK is Toyota’s largest manufacturing facility outside of Japan, employing approximately 6,600 people. The plant currently assembles the Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid and Venza and manufactures 4-cylinder and V6 engines. It has earned 10 Initial Quality Plant Awards from J.D. Power and Associates, including four gold J.D. Power Awards.

In 2012, the plant produced the 25 millionth Toyota vehicle built in North America.  Toyota recently committed to boosting production capacity for the 4-cylinder engine at the plant by more than 100,000 units. This $30 million project will create about 80 new jobs.

“The decision to move ES 350 production to Kentucky is a true tribute to the hard work and commitment to excellence of every single Toyota team member at this plant,” said TMMK President Wil James. “We deeply appreciate the tremendous support we have received from our community, from our local suppliers and business partners, and from Governor Beshear and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We look forward to strengthening further the productive partnership we have built together over the last 25 years.”

The ES is Lexus’s bestselling sedan, with approximately 58,850 vehicles sold in North America in 2012 -- including 56,158 in the U.S.  Projections for Toyota’s production volume at the company’s Kyushu plant in Japan have not changed. The company remains committed to building 3 million vehicles per year in Japan, including Lexus models, as previously announced.

Toyoda and Lentz made the Lexus ES 350 production announcement at a press conference prior to a major New York City event showcasing Lexus’s commitment to groundbreaking design and its redoubled focus on creating a global luxury brand experience.

"I just wanted to write a quick note to Thank Ms. Mandi Grudek and Mr. Duff Joy for excellent services given to me on my 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
Thank you so much for your professionalism and taking time answering all of my questions, and making the process not as painful as it otherwise could have been. I'm happy with the car I purchased and it's all thanks to Mandi and Duff.
You can be sure that if I have any friends and families looking to buy new cars in the future, I'll be sending them to you. Thanks again."

5-Star Review on DealerRater:

"After previously owning a Toyota for 13 years it was time for an upgrade and a new addition to meet the new needs of my wife and myself. I dreaded the car dealership experience, like the ones at other dealerships preceding, thankfully this was not the case. The Toyota Carlsbad team was very friendly, professional, passive and exceeded our expectations which made this a easy and enjoyable experience. I am very thankful that I set foot on the Carlsbad Toyota lot , cause this was top notch professional customer service. Thank you Duff Joy, Elma Alfaraj and the rest of the Toyota of Carlsbad team."

Toyota and Lexus Achieve United States and Global Hybrid Sales Milestones

Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

Nearly 2 million (1,951,243) Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicles have been sold in the United States since July 2000 and a total of 5 million globally.  Toyota estimates its global fleet of nearly 20 hybrid vehicles has resulted in approximately 34 million fewer tons of CO2 emissions and fuel consumption than those emitted by gasoline-powered vehicles. In addition, Toyota estimates its hybrids have saved owners more than 3 billion gallons of gasoline compared to gasoline-only powered vehicles.

Toyota and Lexus hybrids make up 70 percent of the U.S. auto industry’s total hybrid vehicle sales, and account for 16 percent of overall Toyota/Lexus sales globally and locally.  Between now and the end of 2015, Toyota plans to introduce 18 new hybrid models and expects global sales of its hybrids to be at least 1 million units a year.  Toyota Motor Sales forecasts that about one-third of those will be sold in the United States.

Toyota Carlsbad received three 5-star reviews regarding our customer's experiences at our dealership. We are grateful to have received such amazing feedback!

Dealer-rater-logo

5-Star Reviews on DealerRater:

"Without a doubt Lisa Bruzzi and her team never led me in the wrong direction. Price was not matched at any other dealer in the area and the vehicle was produced as agreed. No pressure sales and always an option without the extra cost. All this and the understanding its a Toyota that will last far beyond the competition. I will consider purchasing another in the near future."

"I am very excited to write this review. I had gone to Toyota of Carlsbad for my original car, a Corolla and was so happy with the honest service I received. So, this time I expected nothing less and got it! We went in looking for a bigger car (baby on the way!) and found the Rav4 and fell in love. Omar helped us with the selection (couldn't be happier with the model we chose - XLE AWD) and was very realistic with us about pricing and what to expect. We are so in love with this car and have already enjoyed a nice road trip in it! It is so efficient and is just all around a great family car -- very pleased!
Aaron was our financial advisor and went over all the aspects of payment, etc. and helped us with our GAP insurance. He was very pleasant to work with and again, was very honest and straight forward.
Overall, we had an amazing experience and will definitely be going to Toyota for any of our future needs."

"Duff was fantastic to work with. We got a great price on our trade in, a great price on our new Prius, and overall a very positive experience. Duff was friendly, efficient, and extremely helpful and patient with our questions. He went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied with our purchase and comfortable during our time at the dealership.
We had actually gone to a different dealership earlier in the day but were so dissatisfied with the customer service that we started looking elsewhere. I am so happy we decided to drive down to Carlsbad because it was like night and day!
Mandy was also great to work with - incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgable."

"I recently purchased a used Camry and the service was amazing. The salesman Tom was so helpful and knowledgable. Bob in finance really took the time to explain everything to me. A couple days later Tom called to see how everything was going with my new car. I definitely recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a car!"

Toyota Honored With 2013 Traffic Safety Achievement Award

Toyota received the Automaker Award in the 2013 Traffic Safety Achievement Awards for its contributions to teen driver education and safety.   In presenting the award, the World Traffic Safety Symposium cited Toyota’s commitment of $50 million to launch the Collaborative Safety Research Center (CSRC) two years ago in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The CSRC partners with collaborative research from top universities, hospitals, research centers and federal agencies across North America to help reduce traffic deaths and injuries, the symposium said.  Initial areas of focus include reducing the risk of driver distraction and protecting vulnerable traffic populations, particularly children, teens, seniors and pedestrians.

New Drivers Gain Critical Defensive Driving Skills and Confidence Behind the Wheel from Toyota's Teen Safe Driving Program

Toy_art
Toyota continues to offer its free-of-charge safe driving skills program, Toyota Driving Expectations, and comprehensive online resources with the goal of reducing motor vehicle crashes, the leading cause of death among teens. Upcoming behind-the-wheel safety events will be held in Torrance, Calif., Denver and San Antonio for newly licensed or permitted teens and their parents to learn about defensive driving skills, crash avoidance techniques and the dangers of distracted driving during the 2.5-hour program.

Moving into its 10th year, Toyota Driving Expectations supplements standard driver’s education to prepare inexperienced drivers for the challenges they’ll face on the road. In recognizing the importance of parents’ involvement to help their teens develop responsible driving habits, the program requires a parent or guardian to accompany their teen.

Kicking-off in Torrance, Calif., professional instructors in the Toyota Driving Expectations “On The Road” program tour lead teens through driving courses and in-classroom discussions, while encouraging continued learning at home and demonstrating safe driving habits. This year’s events will be held at:

  • Torrance, Calif.on May 4-5 at Toyota headquarters. Registration now open at www.toyotadrivingexpectations.com
  • Denver, Colo. on May 18-19 at Bass Pro Shops. Registration opens April 18.
  • San Antonio, Texason June 8–9 at Toyota Texas Plant. Registration opens May 9.

“Safer drivers lead to safer roads, so Toyota is committed to helping educate and empower teens and parents around smart driving choices,” said Michael Rouse, Toyota’s vice president of diversity, philanthropy and community affairs. “Through our safe driving programs, partnerships and online resources, we hope more young drivers will absorb the sobering lessons of distracted driving and learn key skills to keep themselves safe behind the wheel.”

To further the connection with teens in local communities, Toyota Driving Expectations has launched teen driving assemblies in high schools and dealerships across the country. Free Toyota Driving Expectations safety clinics at select Toyota dealerships will be led this summer by professional drivers who address vehicle safety features, defensive driving, distracted driving and vehicle maintenance.

Making Safe Driving Information and Resources Available
Toyota also offers free online safety resources for teens, parents and educators through its partnership with Discovery Education at ToyotaTeenDriver.com.  The Toyota Teen Driver also has annual contests for teens and educators, including the current Toyota Teen Driver Video Challenge, whose top ten videos are open for public voting now through April 16th.  The winning teen will receive $15,000.

Last fall, Toyota’s Collaborative Safety Research Center (CSRC) and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) announced preliminary findings from a major, national study that analyzed the critical role parents play in shaping teen driving habits. The UMTRI/Toyota Teen Driver Distraction Study found a significant correlation between parent and teen behaviors behind the wheel, suggesting parents can be influential role models for young drivers. Startling study findings showed that 61 percent of parents and 54 percent of teens report that they use a hand-held cellphone while driving, emphasizing the importance of including parents in the Toyota Driving Expectations program.

While helping parents talk to their teens about safety can be challenging, Toyota is dedicated to furthering this important conversation. Earlier this month, the company partnered with Teen Vogue to launch “Arrive in Style”, a safe driving campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving among teenage girls and inspire them to make a mutual commitment with their mothers to drive safely.  The campaign features monthly advertorials with tips and advice from Toyota on different safe driving topics, as well as stories and online videos of Teen Vogue readers and their mothers about their commitment to driving safely.  A microsite (arriveinstyle.teenvogue.com) will feature Toyota’s Mutual Driving Agreement that mothers and daughters can e-sign and share via Facebook for a chance to win monthly prizes. In addition to signing the Agreement, teens can upload a photo on the microsite of them and their mom “air driving” for a chance to win a trip to New York City to be featured in the February 2014 issue of Teen Vogue.

Building on its 10-year relationship with the National Safety Council, Toyota supports the Council’s DriveitHOME initiative, launched in March at www.driveithome.org. Designed by and for parents of newly licensed teen drivers, the online community uses highly visual media to educate parents on the dangers facing teens on the road and ways to coach recently licensed drivers. Like Toyota Driving Expectations, DriveitHOMEencourages the conversation about safe habits to continue long after teens receive a license.

National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation to Kick Off in Washington, D.C.

Toyota_article
The Wyland Foundation and Toyota will launch the second annual National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation from the nation’s capital, with support from Mayor Vincent C. Gray and city leaders from around the country. The challenge runs April 1 - 30 and asks residents to show their commitment to conserving natural resources by taking an online pledge at www.mywaterpledge.com. The Earth Month initiative will reward residents from cities with the highest percentage of participants with hundreds of environmentally friendly prizes, including a Toyota Prius c, water-saving fixtures and gift certificates to Lowe's stores.

At the kick-off in Washington, D.C., renowned marine artist Wyland will join Gray, Nancy Stoner, acting assistant administrator for water at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and representatives from Toyota, National League of Cities, CH2M Hill WaterMatch, DC Water and the U.S. Forest Service to discuss the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Pete Dominick, longtime SiriusXM host, stand-up comic and CNN contributor, will also speak at the kick-off as the official spokesperson of Comics for Conservation, a series of public service announcements by well-known comics in support of the environment. During the event, Wyland will create a five-by-ten foot conservation-themed mural that will be awarded to one of the Mayor’s Challenge winning cities.

“There has never been a more important time to make a commitment to conserving water in the District of Columbia and across the country,” noted Mayor Vincent C. Gray. “I proudly stand with the Wyland Foundation, Toyota and mayors from across the country to urge residents to conserve this important natural resource and build a more sustainable future.”

The challenge divides cities into five population categories: 5,000 – 30,000 residents, 30,000 – 100,000 residents, 100,000 – 300,000 residents, 300,000 – 600,000 residents, and cities with more than 600,000 residents. One winning city will be determined in each of the five population categories. The grand prize of a Toyota Prius c will be awarded to one participant from a winning city by random drawing. A second prize drawing for a $1,000 Lowe’s shopping spree will be held among all challenge entries, regardless if a city is among the five winning cities. Participating mayors and elected officials can earn additional prizes for their residents if their cities win.

In addition to Gray, other mayors who will encourage their residents to participate in the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation include:

  • Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Columbus, Ohio
  • Mayor David Coss, Santa Fe, N.M.
  • Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Denver, Colo.
  • Mayor Mike McGinn, Seattle, Wash.
  • Mayor Kasim Reed, Atlanta, Ga.
  • Mayor Jonathan Rothschild, Tucson, Ariz.

Presented nationally by the Wyland Foundation and Toyota, with support from the National League of Cities, CH2M Hill WaterMatch, Rain Bird Corporation, Lowe's home improvement stores, the EPA, and the U.S. Forest Service, the challenge also provides residents with local resources to take their commitments of conservation even further. Regional water and energy resources to cost-saving tips at home are available at www.mywaterpledge.com. Organizers are currently leading an eight-state U.S. educational tour, visiting schools and community events to prime cities for the Earth Month initiative in which thousands of residents nationwide are expected to participate.

“Building awareness around the importance of reducing waste will show that we can all do our part to help contribute to the long-term preservation of our environment,” said artist Wyland. “Understanding the responsibility we all have is the first step in realizing a sustainable future.”

Toyota’s support of the Wyland Foundation is part of the automobile company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability.

“This year’s challenge features a broad outreach to us all to preserve our natural resources,” said Michael Rouse, vice president of diversity, philanthropy, and community affairs for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. “Since protecting the environment is a priority woven into all aspects of our business at Toyota, we are proud to support an effort that develops conservation advocates and leaders throughout our communities.”

In last year’s challenge, residents from 1,000 cities in all 50 states made online pledges to save a total of 4.7 billion gallons of water over the next year, with a potential cost savings of $11.6 million. Residents further pledged to reduce their use of single-use plastic water bottles by 1.1 million bottles and eliminate 60,000 pounds of hazardous waste from entering watersheds.
